Windy City Allstars qualify for Uproar on the Lakeshore
The Windy City Rollers Allstars played in this weekend's Thunda on the Tundra, one of four regional tournaments in the WFTDA (women's flat track derby association) that determines the 12 teams that advance to compete for the "Hydra", the national championship title for flat track derby.
Windy City is in the North Central region and defeated Indianapolis, Cincinnati and finally Minneapolis to win their division and finish North Central Champions for the second year in a row.
This qualifies the Windy City Allstars for a berth in Uproar on the Lakeshore, the national tournament that takes place in Chicago this year, Nov 5-7 at UIC Pavilion. Along with Gotham (NYC) and Texas (Austin), Chicago is one of only 3 teams (of over 100 eligible) to compete in the national tournament every year since the WFTDA began national tournaments in 2007.
