Your perfect Friday: Festival J.O.E. and Fringe Fest

Ignore the name. Redmoon Theater Company’s Festival J.O.E.(Belmont Harbor, 3600 Recreation Dr; 312-850-8440, joyousoutdoorevent.org; 6–10pm; $15–$25, kids $10) isn’t the average Joe of festivals. In fact it’s about as avant-garde as a street fest can get. See Redmoon’s signature “spectacles,” theater productions and contemporary dance, topped off by the artistic centerpiece: Luminarium, a 35-foot tall, 15,000-square-foot translucent vinyl structure made by U.K. artists Architects of Air. Don’t be intimidated—regular Joes in attendance will still get their fill of bands and street-food fare.
It's okay to be a show-off.
