Oprah at Water Tower Place tomorrow

Okay, that headline above might be a teensy bit misleading.

Ms. Winfrey probably won't be appearing in person at the Mag Mile mall but her shop, The Oprah Store, is set to open on the second level at Water Tower on Thursday May 27. Harpo announced today that the original store (located across from Harpo Studios in the West Loop) is expanding with this "microsalon" opening on Michigan Avenue. Just like the original, the new outpost will features some of O's favorite things: apparel, memorabilia and collectibles, as well as items from the "O" signature baby collection and an assortment of South African crafts and jewelry. (Hopefully, it'll also sell saltwater taffy from Rhode Island, sweater capes and calypso music)

The timing for this new location couldn't be better. Winfrey just finished filming the latest season of her talk show, which means audience members (ie. tourists) won't be swarming over to the West Loop this summer, so Oprah makes it easy by opening up shop in one of the city's biggest tourist areas. She may be leaving Chicago eventually, but Oprah's stuff is still all over the city.
