Disco Unusual Social Club at Danny's: Photo gallery
The Mr. Peabody's DJs have put Chicago dance music of the ’70s and ’80s back on the map—the Real Sound of Chicago compilation on BBE has sold out its first pressing and is getting attention around the world. So, where do they take their Chicago-centric boogie set? To Lono Brazil's hip, oft-packed, disco party at Danny's in Bucktown. Mike Cole of Mr. Peabody's was absolutely devastating on the turntables, even tossing a little samba build-up in between mid-tempo boogie and disco cuts. By the time I cut out the crowd was a drunken, sweaty, smiley (but still stylish) mess and Chicago DJs were sticking their faces right up to the speaker cabinets. That's a good party.
