Comic Hannibal Buress tapped by SNL
Last month I was taking the Second City neighborhood walking tour with docent Margaret Hicks. Naturally, what the crowd of tourists wanted to know was, does SNL still pluck ensemble members from the Second City. I cringed. How long has it been since a Chicago comic was tapped for the vaunted variety show?, I thought. Well not only was Mainstage cast member Pat O'Brien notified last week that he'd been asked to join the writing team of SNL, but lightning struck again this morning when local comic Hannibal Buress (now based in New York) both tweeted and announced on Vocalo.org that he would also be joining the SNL team as a writer. Check out YouTube clips from the funnyman both here and here. Buress has canceled his November stint at Zanies. Just our luck.
