This weekend at Chicagoland ozoners

Posted in #Chicago blog by Frank Sennett on May 1, 2009 at 4:39pm

Week two of our drive-in movie update marks the season opening of the McHenry Outdoor Theatre northwest of the city and its twin bill of Monsters vs. Aliens and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Out west at the Route 34 Drive-in, we also have Monsters vs. Aliens, but this time followed by the little-kid friendly (but not as much fun for adults) Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, although most kids won't make it through the second feature before sacking out in the backseat.

The Cascade is playing X-Men Origins: Wolverine followed by the most intriguing of the weekend's ozoner offerings, Taken, in which Liam Neeson plays a CIA op out to rescue his daughter from bad guys. The TOC review suggests it's exactly my kind of drive-in flick: "what Taken lacks in plausibility, originality, political correctness and basic regard for human life it makes up for with a breakneck pace—going straight from the eyes and ears to the adrenal glands."

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
