Peace of cake

Want to eat a nuclear reactor? Help SAIC grad student Erin O’Brien dismantle the gingerbread replica of the reactor at Yongbyon, North Korea, which she created as part of her MFA thesis. (In a press release, O’Brien explains that the installation, Nuclear Family, was partly inspired by her mother’s work as a pastry chef and her father’s involvement in the Nonproliferation and Disarmament Fund. O’Brien is holding a press conference Thursday, May 8, 11am at Gallery 2 and Project Space (847 W Jackson St, 3rd fl, at Green St) and says the “final demolition” will take place from 4:30–6pm. The event is co-sponsored by the Nuclear Peace Age Foundation.
