Countdown to climb up

Posted in #Chicago blog by Tim McCormick on Nov 1, 2007 at 1:35pm

Ever wanted to climb all 103 floors of America's tallest building, the Sears Tower (that's 2,109 steps and 1,353 feet for those of you scoring at home)? Me neither. But once you find out it's for a good cause, you just might want to sign up for this endurance test.

Point your browser over here before 5pm today, plop down $75 and you too can get winded making the climb as a part of Go Vertical Chicago. It takes place on Nov 11, beginning at 7am with the elite runners kicking things off (we're told they can clock times of just a little more than 13 minutes to reach the top). All of the proceeds (runners are also encouraged to fund-raise) go to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, a non-profit looking to support researchers across the country to discover new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the many forms of cancer. Even if you're just a weekend warrior, surely you can register a time that will have you home in plenty of time to catch the 3:15pm Bears kickoff (if you're into self-inflicted misery).
