Fashion Week: Coming to Chicago, kinda

Posted in #Chicago blog by Annie Tomlin on Feb 8, 2007 at 6:32pm

I'm back in Chicago (we do have a magazine to put you, y'know) but one of the more interesting things about Fashion Week is that it's more accessible than you'd think it would be. In the time it takes to wait in person for a show to begin, you can hop on Style.com and browse runway shots from five or six designers. That's not to say that actually being at the shows doesn't matter--if you're close enough, you can see more details, and getting the inside scoop is valuable--but the internets have made it much easier to hop on trends right as they're shown.

Or, of course, you can always go to Fashion Week Live. It's a best-of-Fashion-Week affair that brings runway shows to cities that aren't New York, and it's coming to Millennium Park in March. IMG, who's putting on the event, announced the first round of designers who'll show their clothing: Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, Peter Som, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass. It'll cost you, though--from $500 to $1500 for a seat. What price fashion, indeed.
