Last-minute shopping news: Weekend sales
From this morning's inbox, here are a few sales happening around Chicago this weekend:
Grasshopper 510 (1944 N Damen Ave, 773-292-0510) The reason for this ecofriendly boutique's sale? It's closing for good at the end of the month. The Bucktown shop, known for informing customers why particular purchases are better choices for the environment, starts its sale tomorrow. Look for everything marked at least 20% off, and deeper discounts on larger items. Items (past merch has included recycled sea-glass serving pieces, reclaimed bags by Ashley Watson and sustainable Kobo Portuguese soy candles) will be prograssively discounted throughout the month. And even though the brick-and-mortar store is going away, the Grasshopper 510 online store will continue to operate.
RE.Stock Shop (901 W Madison St) The West Loop's semi-permanent sample sale is known for its deep discounts on men's and women's clothing, and this weekend, the discounts are even bigger. Owner Julie LaBarge tells me that new markdowns include men's Bogosse shirts (20% off), ICE watches (20% off), JLee Silver (an additional 10% off), Not Your Daughters Jeans (25% off) and more. Plus, we've got a V.I.P. hook-up for you: Mention the special password (V.I.P. 2011), and you'll get an additional 10% off your total purchase.
Untitled (2707 N Clark St, 773-404-9225; 1543 N Milwaukee Ave, 773-342-0500; Woodfield Mall, 847-330-2760) I always make it point stop in Untitled (especially the Lincoln Park location—it seems to have the best selection) around this time of year, because it usually seems like the whole store is on sale. Case in point: All women's clothing is currently 30% off, sale items have been marked down an additional 30%, men's coats and sweaters are on sale, winter boots are discounted, and prices have been cut on premium denim. Brands carried in the store include Marshall Artist, Fred Perry, Nudie, Naked & Famous, RVCA, Stussy, Obey, Nikita, Cheap Monday and more.
