Columbia students host Zero Waste Party on December 15

On Wednesday, December 15, Columbia College students will throw what they call a Zero Waste Party promote eco-friendly practices. The students, enrolled in a course called Citizen Designer, are hosting a party/exhibition about sustainability and waste at Columbia's Conway Center (1104 S. Wabash). The party itself will produce no waste. There will be a variety of demonstrations to highlight the reuse and recycle mentality.
Throughout the space, there will be documentary projections about the effects of waste. There will also be demonstrations on composting and ways to reduce and reuse waste around the house, as well as a recycling demonstrations using the very posters and materials used to promote the event. There will be food provided, waste-free of course, and free prizes and giveaways. Absolutely nothing from the party will contribute to landfills.
The Zero Waste Party is perfect for the slacking idealist inside all of us. Feel free to show up, eat, and learn.
Zero Waste Party will be held at the Conway Center, 1104 S Wabash, Dec 15, 5pm-9pm.
