Thursday's best bets: Cibo Matto at Lincoln Hall, Dorchester Project screening

MUSIC - Cibo Matto
The duo of Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda arguably helped kick-start America’s fixation with Japanese culture and the foodie movement. Cibo Matto is Italian for crazy food, and its songs covered “White Pepper Ice Cream,” “Le Pain Perdu” and other delights. In 2001, the group split, leaving us hungry for more. Now Cibo Matto is back, working on a third LP and making mouths water on tour. Lincoln Hall, 9pm, $20.

AROUND TOWN - Dorchester Project screening
Summer’s blockbuster movies will be in theaters for a while. Watch this screening of rarely seen local footage, including Muhammad Ali’s boxing match with Leon Spinks, the making of the Vice Lords street gang and Maxwell Street. Featured subjects include Chicago After Dark (Thu 14); Music and Movements (Jul 21); A CFA Mix (Aug 4) and South Side Home Movies (Aug 21). In conjunction with the Center for Book and Paper Arts exhibition "The World As Text," curator Jessica Cochran moderates a conversation with Doro Boehme, curator of SAIC's Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection, and Alex Gartelmann, a member of the Philadelphia artists' collective little berlin.
