The readers of Conde Nast Traveler have spoken in the annual Readers Choice issue (on newsstands October 18), and they have named Chicago’s Elysian Hotel the top hotel in the United States for 2011.

I went to the Elysian for the first time last month and wrote about trying the hotel’s new Farm Fresh facial. Oh, that facial. It was the best one I’ve ever had. (High praise, to be sure.) The products were top-quality, the room was cozy and just the right temperature, the aesthetician struck the perfect balance of engaging me in conversation without being overly chatty.  But beyond all of that, my skin felt and looked totally fantastic afterward. It was pretty amazing. And the crazy thing is that I’m not even sure that was the best part about the experience! Guests of the hotel and spa have access to the fitness facility (and exercise classes), pool (gorgeous) and locker room (think steam room, rain showers, sauna), where I highly recommend you plan some hang-out time. The décor—from the moment you walk in—is airy and beautiful, the staff charming and friendly—the whole place exudes luxury and relaxation without a hint of pretension.

So yeah, we're smitten, too. Check out the slideshow of hotel pics above. Aren’t you sort of dying to book a staycation here?
