Chicago Blues Festival 2011, Friday | Photo gallery
Blues Fest, slightly scaled back for budgetary reasons, got off to a cooler than normal start yesterday. I'm accustomed to getting my first hint of a summer tan while walking around the fest on a Friday with a cold drink and a hot sandwich in my hand—I haven't made it out, yet but I did play a pre-fest party Buddy Guy's so I'm feeling the blues love. Despite the moist and cool air, the blues fans, tourists and fest lovers turned out for hot licks, tasty bites and fresh air in the park. There are two whole days of blues, roots and more to come, so get out down to Grant Park if you have a hankering.
