May 21–27
* Keys to the City Piano Festival Wed 23 at 7:30pm; Thu 24 at 8pm; Fri 25 at 1:30, 8pm; Sat 26 at 3, 8, 10:30pm; Sun 27 at 1pm. Symphony Center, 220 S Michigan Ave (312-294-3000, cso.org). $32–$240. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra presents a series of ivory-tickling performers who will open ears with music ranging from classical to pop to jazz. Free concerts available May 26, 27, 29 and Jun 10.
Gaelic Park Irish Fest Fri 25 at 4pm; Sat 26 at 2pm; Sun 27 at 1pm. Gaelic Park, 6119 W 147th St, Oak Forest (708-687-9323, chicagogaelicpark.org/irishfest.htm). $15, kids and seniors $12. Oak Forest celebrates all things Irish and Irish-American with Irish music, Irish dancing, Irish sporting events, an Irish tea room and, of course, plenty of Irish beer. (Sick of the word Irish yet?) The fest also hosts the Chicago Feis, an annual Irish dance competition.
* International Mr. Leather Weekend Fri 25, noon–11pm; Sat 26, 11am–11pm; Sun 27, 11–4am. Most events take place at Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E Wacker Dr (503-715-1114, imrl.com). Market $5; bronze package $165, silver package $180, gold package $195. Rooted in a 1979 bar contest, this four-day event features parties, a fetish and leather market, a physique competition, a sexy shoe-polishing competition and, of course, the annual crowning of International Mr. Leather.
Summer Camp Music Festival Fri 25–Sun 27. Three Sisters Park, 17189 N Rte 29, Chillicothe (866-278-8837, summercampfestival.com). Around $195 for a three-day pass. Sip on some bug juice and be your own counselor as you spend three days in an outdoor park with the sounds of Jane’s Addiction, Pretty Lights, Primus and more than a hundred other bands on six stages. Gates open for a pre-party at 10pm Thursday and don’t shut till the fest is over.
Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival Sat 26, Sun 27, noon–10pm. Sheffield Ave between Belmont Ave and School St (773-868-3010, chicagoevents.com). $5. Break out the white dress shoes and celebrate Memorial Day weekend by singing along to cover bands—they may not be famous, but at least the songs they play are.
Randolph Street Market Festival Sat 26, 10am–6pm; Sun 27, 10am–5pm. 1350 block of W Randolph St (312-666-1200, chicagoantiquemarket.com). $10, online $8, kids under 12 free. Holding both the Chicago Antique Market and Indie Designer Market, this fest is on the last weekend of every month through September. Stop in for vintage clothes and jewelry, a vinyl swap meet, a fancy food market and a global goods bazaar. Peruse antiques or bring your own for appraisal.
