Mayfest Fri 18, 5–10pm; Sat 19, 10am–10pm; Sun 20, 10am–10pm. 3100 N Ashland Ave (773-665-4682, starevents.com). $10. Kick off the festival season at this Lakeview neighborhood tradition. Munch on pretzels and grab a brew from the outdoor beer garden.
A Bloomin’ Festival Sat 19, Sun 20, 10am–3pm. Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake-Cook Rd, Glencoe (847-835-5440, chicagobotanic.org). Free, parking $20. This fest features the 46th annual Bloomin’ Sale, which hawks thousands of locally grown plants. You can also shop for baked goods, mushrooms, honey and pottery.
