Your perfect weekend | "Whales," beaches open, Bike the Drive
Six activities for Memorial Day weekend

Chicago Park District's 63rd Street Beach
Saturday, May 28
All the recent blustery weather makes it hard to believe that this weekend beaches open (various locations; 312-742-7529, chicagoparkdistrict.com; 11am–7pm; free). If it’s too nippy to take a dip, try a dog walk or kayak rental at Montrose Beach (4400 N Lake Shore Dr; kayaks: kayakchicago.com; $20–$80) or rally a group of friends for a pick-up volleyball game at North Avenue Beach (rent equipment at North Avenue Beach House, 1600 N Lake Shore Dr; 312-742-7841; $5).
Partake in quintessential summer entertainment—carnival rides, fireworks and lots of cold beer drinking—at Chicago Gaelic Park Irish Fest (6119 W 147th St, Oak Forest; 708-687-9323; noon–11pm; $15, seniors and kids ages 2–12 $12). If the beer and carnival rides are a bad mix, park it at Gaelic football and hurling matches from noon to 5pm.
