The least commercial marker of the opening of the holiday season in Chicago? The wreathing of the Art Institute Lions, perhaps, as the twenty year-plus tradition doesn't involve a doorbuster sale or a major department store brand, but rather live performances, Artie the Lion and free wreathing workshops for family.
