Your perfect weekend
Things to do this weekend
Friday, Mar 15
At Localicious—Friday night’s precursor to the Good Food Festival & Conference trade show on Saturday 16—nosh on samples from more than 40 eateries, including Autre Monde Café and Katherine Anne Confections. You can also catch an advance screening of Food Patriots, a documentary about food sustainability. UIC Forum, 725 W Roosevelt Rd. 7pm; $90, advance $75.
Count on the U. of C. to turn a movie screening into a lecture. Fortunately, this one sounds interesting. SAIC professor Terri Kapsalis and U. of C. Ph.D. candidate Artemis Willis present Performing the Night Sky: Heavenly Bodies, a cinematic performance comprised of 1850s slides from the Alder Planetarium’s collection that show scientists’ interpretations of the universe. It’s followed by The Incredible Shrinking Man, a 1957 film known for its innovative use of scale. Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E 60th St, room 201 (773-702-2787). 7pm; free.
