Count on the U. of C. to turn a movie screening into a lecture. Fortunately, this one sounds interesting. SAIC professor Terri Kapsalis and U. of C. Ph.D. candidate Artemis Willis present Performing the Night Sky: Heavenly Bodies, a cinematic performance comprised of 1850s slides from the Alder Planetarium’s collection that show scientists’ interpretations of the universe. It’s followed by The Incredible Shrinking Man, a 1957 film known for its innovative use of scale. Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E 60th St, room 201 (773-702-2787). 7pm; free.
