“The Reason Why the Colored American Is Not in the World’s Columbian Exposition”
Subway: Blue to UIC-Halsted
In conjunction with the 120th anniversary of the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, UIC looks at black contributions to Chicago's famous fair. Its title taken from a pamphlet co-written by Civil Rights activist activist Ida B. Wells, the show highlights the exclusion of African Americans from planning the exhibits and, yup, that gleaming White City.
