Super Mario Brothers Burlesque
Friday, Mar 18
What will those crazy dancers think of next? Super Mario Brothers Burlesque (Gorilla Tango Theatre, 1919 N Milwaukee Ave; 773-598-4549; 11pm; $20) sounds like an odd pairing, but the show featuring sexy poisonous fish, seductive high-flying ghosts and alluring Koopa Troopas has been going strong for six months. Guess we underestimated how much you really love those Italian plumbers.
Ever wanted to dance the hambo? Neither have we, but only because we’d never heard of it until now. Consider us intrigued. At tonight’s Scandinavian Dances with Linda and Paul (Swedish American Museum, 5211 N Clark St; 773-728-8111; 7:30–10pm; $15, museum members $10), two veteran hoofers teach Nordic dances—including the hambo, Sweden’s national dance. If you have smooth moves or two left feet, you’re welcome to participate; partners not required.
